Christmas Island
The Territory of Christmas Island is a small territory of Australia located in the Indian Ocean, 2600 kilometres (1600 mi) northwest of Perth in Western Australia, 500 kilometres (300 mi) south of Jakarta, Indonesia, and 975 km ENE of the Cocos Islands.
Due to minimal commercialisation, Diving on Christmas Island can be described as one of if not the best dive locations available, with Drift Dives, Cave Diving, extreme drop offs and under water caverns to explore, coral covered walls, dolphins, huge sharks and manta rays and an enormous variety of fish species to observe, you are assured of an experience that will last a life time!
The annual red crab mass migration (around 100 million animals) to the sea to spawn has been called one of the wonders of the natural world and takes place each year around November; after the start of the wet season and in synchronisation with the cycle of the moon.
